1. Biththara Aappa ( Egg Hoppers/Hoppers)




Egg Hoppers are very popular among tourists. Crispy Egg Hoppers are very delicious with Onion and Chilli Sambol called Lunumiris. Also, these hoppers can be eaten with mushrooms, fish, chicken, pork, and mutton curries. Hoppers are very popular for breakfast or dinner in Sri Lanka, where they are served with or without eggs. 2. Koththu




Koththu or Koththu Roti originated in Batticaloa, in the Eastern parts of Sri Lanka by the local Tamil people but now it has been adopted by the Sinhala people. When you travel from the Southern areas to the north of Jaffna, you may listen to some metallic rhythmic sounds inside the food huts on the street. That is the way they prepare Koththu. Koththu roti is also delicious with meat curries, and Gravy. You can find various types of Koththu for Vegetarians as well as for Non-vegetarians. 3. Isso Wade (Prawn Wade)

4. Mango Achcharu (Pickle)



Mango Achcharu is a very spicy and tangy food.  This can be made with raw Mangos as well as with ripe Mangos. Salt, pepper, and Chilli are mixed with this food, making it very tasty. People sell Mango Achcharu on the way. You can see them under the trees or in shade with their Carts and cycles.  Mostly, this food can be purchased where the Sri Lankan historical temples are situated in the cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Sigiriya, etc.


5. Pol roti and Lunu miris




Sri Lankan street food pol roti is a very naturally made food of coconut scrap and Wheat flour. That doesn’t use any ingredients such as baking powder or baking soda. The Pol roti is very delicious with chopped red onion and chili. You can also eat it plain.  This is kind of a breakfast food that can be used for lunch and dinner.  No doubt that hot Pol roti with Luna minis can be tasted on the way while your tour in Sri Lanka. 6. Meekiri (Curd and treacle)




Meekiri is a popular Sri Lankan sweet treat that is mainly enjoyed for breakfast and lunch. The dish consists of a creamy curd (meekiri) made from buffalo milk. The meekiri can be eaten with sweet treacle—in Sri Lanka known as kitul peni and traditionally made from the sap of the fishtail or toddy palm (Caryota). It is a sweet treat. These foods are very popular to taste on the way to the Southern part of the country.


7. Badairingu (Corn)



Sri Lankan Badairingu is a very tasty food that people love to eat. When you travel around the country you can see people selling Badairingu. Some corns are boiled and some are burnt but the taste is maximum. Everything like selling and preparing corn can be seen on the street. Tourists come to taste this delicious food. This food also can be found anywhere in Sri Lanka while traveling. also, this is a very healthy food. You can eat for breakfast and lunch and also in the evening.
